Doesn't it suck how quickly time flies when you least want it to? I mean, where did half term go? Time has gone so quickly, it really doesn't feel like I've had a week off at all and the things I have done have been much less relaxing than I would normally care for in a weeks "holiday". But, actually, it has done my attitude the world of good so perhaps the change has been as good as a rest? I feel much more like my usual positive self, the "usual" self I haven't seen in quite a few months, and feel like everything is on the up.
I have to say, as ridiculous as it sounds, one massive change for me has been the content on my iPod. I mean, there have been some great new albums out recently but, seriously, everyone needs to cheer up a bit! Yes, Ellie Goulding and Of Monsters and Men, I'm talking to you: your music is beautiful, but my goodness you don't half put a downer on my mood. I have had to ditch you all for cheerier music matter or the radio because otherwise I may have gone completely insane.
Plus, I have a social life for the coming tow months! Miracles do happen...
So, bring on the new half term: Bring me more chances to show what I can really do and bring on some fun! I will even endeavour to get into the Christmas spirit, despite my usual scroogeish nature and the upcoming rubbish Christmas Day which will be the normal anti-climax to the whole shebang.
Enjoy the next half term fellow teacher bloggers, and to others who exist outside of the academic calendar, enjoy what is left of your working year :)

Music for my mood.
I've just sat and downloaded a lot of new music and meticulously organised my Ipod into different playlists. Whilst this was a task borne primarily from procrastination from packing (as do 90% of my daily activities right now), it also served a purpose for me.
You see, my music tastes vary according to my mood and as such, most songs on my Ipod remind me of a certain time in my life or a certain event. For example, there are various tracks which remind me of driving with the windows down across Bodmin moor to work; there are others which remind me of moving in 2007; there are others which remind me of dancing round a hotel room feeling like nothing in the world could bring me down, that my whole life was working out for the better and that everything would be amazing... I could go on with this list for hours. They aren't necessarily songs which are to do with moving, work etc, they are just songs which were perhaps popular at the time or which made it to my ipod 'current' playlist around then. And so I decided that, based on this, making a playlist which will see me through this coming week is actually fairly important as it will become the soundtrack to my new life and then, in the future, when I feel down, I can crank up these tunes and remember the optimism and excitement of moving.
I also have a photographic memory, so there will be a song which reminds me of driving away for the last time, there will be a song which reminds me of unpacking in my new home and there will be a song which reminds me of waving my family goodbye at the door. And those are pretty important memories which deserve a damn good soundtrack. A calm, relaxed soundtrack to help me wind down from the excitement, and one which I can call on in the future to chill me out when I feel life is getting on top of me.
Plus, it needs to be a damn good soundtrack because there will be lots of cleaning and sorting to do and, lets face it, that sort of thing is a lot more interesting when you can sing at the top of your lungs, spin around and lip-sync into a can of furniture polish.

"Girl power" and other 90s shenanigans.
Seeing as I'm off out with the girls (aka the Spice Girls) tonight, I thought I'd share my 90s reminiscing with you all!
Firstly, our muses for the evening:
That dance will live on forever, genius!
Plus, so much other great music I couldn't miss out (all linked to youtube for your viewing pleasure!): Hanson, Backstreet Boys, M People, Aqua, 'The Macarena', 'Cotton Eyed Joe', Steps... I could go on for hours. Anyway, I think the most worrying thing is that a lot of the cheesy pop bands I looked up actually turned out to be 00s bands, which means I was much less cooler than I thought as a young teenager!
Now if you were a child in the UK during the 90s, you will also remember this little dude and cry with laughter when you watch this, trust me! (And yes, this is Bill Oddie with him!)
And of course, the amazing fashions:

And of course, the amazing fashions:
- Denim, denim and more denim, worn on top of denim! Amazing.
- Dungarees. I miss them.
- Bright blue and purple eye shadow with patching bright blue/purple eye liner (which, might I add, they do not sell in Boots anymore)
- Knitted jumpers, oh the beauty.
- Turtle neck jumpers
- Gypsy style (which is back, again...)
- CROP TOPS. Fit.
- And apparently, the 90s saw the first chavs. Enough said.
- Scrunchies for putting hair up! Nice.
It was an amazing time, and I'm sure that I don't just say that because of the innocence of my youth, afterall, who couldn't be happy if they had 5,6,7,8, the Macarena and other dance routines to keep them busy?
Spice up your life!
Feel free to share any other memories, I can't get enough 90s!
